Frequently Asked Questions at Westport Urgent Care

Use our helpful FAQ to answer some of your most commonly asked questions.

Do I Need an Appointment?

No, our urgent care is a walk-in facility and appointments are never required for any service. We do offer a Reserve Your Spot option. You can access this by clicking the button located in our main menu or you can CLICK HERE >

Can I Make an Appointment?

Our urgent care center utilizes reservations, and we encourage patients to Reserve Your Spot here, on our website. Reservations are never required to receive medical care. In urgent care, it is important to prioritize patients by severity of their conditions so that all patients are treated promptly. We ensure that all emergency conditions are prioritized.

Should I Go to the Emergency Room or Urgent Care?

If you are having life-threatening conditions such as severe chest pain, difficulty breathing, serious illness or injury, sustained a head injury, heavy bleeding, etc., go to the emergency room. For most other non-life-threatening conditions, you can trust us with your medical care. If you or someone you know requires emergency care, please call 911 or visit your local emergency room.

What Ages Do You Treat?

We treat ages 4 months and older at our urgent care. If your child is under the age of 4 months, we advise you to seek treatment from your local emergency room, pediatrician, or an urgent care that specializes in pediatrics.

Why Should I Choose Your Center?

Our staff provides caring, compassionate medical care to all our patients. Our urgent care center is clean and safe for you and your family, and is designed with you, the patient, in mind. We are open 7 days a week, including weekends, evenings, and most holidays.
At times, it is hard to get an appointment with your regular physician. We offer extended hours at convenient times so you can see a provider and feel better fast!

Who Will Be Treating Me?

Our providers are skilled in emergency medicine and/or family medicine. We staff MD, DO, PA, and LPN providers (Physicians and Mid-Level Providers) at our facilities. One of the main goals at our center is to provide quality care with compassion. The most important part of patient care is to understand the body as a whole. This is just part of our philosophy and what sets us apart from other urgent care providers.

What Do You Treat?

We treat children 4 months and older and adults for non-life-threatening medical ailments that cannot wait. We are proud to offer comprehensive services such as walk-in urgent care, physicals, occupational medicine, travel medicine, lab testing, low-dose x-rays, vaccines, IV hydration, and drug & alcohol testing.

How Long Will My Wait Be?

Wait times fluctuate due to patient volume, high-volume illness months, flu season, and much more. We are a walk-in urgent care, so we recommend reserving a spot to be seen as soon as possible. If another patient is having a medical emergency or has an urgent condition, they will be seen first.

How Long Will My Visit Be?

Our door-to-door throughput is typically 45 minutes. However, during high-volume periods or high-priority patient visits, visits may be longer. If someone is experiencing an emergency or very urgent medical situation, we ensure those patients are seen right away.

Do You Take My Insurance?

We proudly participate with most major insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Depending on your coverage, you may have co-insurance, co-pays, deductibles, out-of-network responsibilities, and other dues. We recommend reaching out to your insurance company to find out your insurance plan specifics.

What is My Co-Pay?

Typically, your insurance card will have this listed on the front for quick reference. Urgent care visits are usually a higher co-pay than your primary care office but lower than an emergency room visit. If you are still unsure, we advise our patients to contact their insurance directly for benefits and information about co-pay, coinsurance, and deductible responsibilities.

Do You Offer Self-Pay Rates?

We offer affordable self-pay rates. These vary based on your medical needs, such as vaccines, stitches, or other services, which are charged at additional rates. You can check by calling our urgent care to inquire about our rates.

Can I Get a Prescription?

Our urgent care center offers prescriptions at the discretion of the provider treating your medical needs. During your visit and examination, a determination on the course of treatment will be discussed. If your primary care or specialist is unavailable, we can help with prescription refills based on the provider’s evaluation. We cannot prescribe controlled substance prescriptions.

Do You Offer Lab Testing?

Yes, we can provide rapid testing in-house for Strep Throat, Flu, Mononucleosis, COVID-19, and some Urinalysis tests. We can also perform blood draws for a variety of other tests after a provider’s assessment. Blood work and any other medical specimens need to be sent out to a lab for processing. We are not a free-standing lab facility.

How Do I Get My Lab Results?

Rapid lab testing results are provided to you during your visit. Specimens that need to be sent out to another laboratory for testing will be reported to you when they arrive. The time to receive results from outside lab testing varies depending on the test(s) being performed. Some tests require a longer time frame, while others may not.

Do You Provide Occupational Medicine Services?

Yes, our urgent care provides extensive occupational medicine such as DOT/CDL physicals, drug and alcohol testing, pre-employment exams, and much more. While we are a walk-in urgent care, we recommend reserving a spot on our website for your visit. We do not offer physical therapy or rehabilitation services.
